Sofia Uslenghi was born in 1985 in Reggio Calabria and she is currently based in Milan, Italy. She started taking photographs at the age of 18, experimenting with film and digital. For some years now the focus of her work is on self-portraits. Initially inspired by Cindy Sherman, for the use of irony, bright colors, and sharp lines, she later approached photographers and painters who interpreted portraits with a very personal style as Egon Schiele, Francis Bacon, Frida Khalo, and Paolo Roversi. Her photographs have been exhibited in Italy and Switzerland and are part of important private collections, together with the works by the most original Italian women photographers.
